How To Unclog a Keurig

First things first start by unplugging the Keurig machine and letting it cool if it was on. If not, proceed to dis-assemble the washable parts and clean them thoroughly. Then wipe down the rest of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth using mild dish soap. This is the process of removing the limescale or the calcification caused by using hard water in your water reservoir. If you do not have access to soft water, boil your water first or use bottled water. You may need to use a commercially bought or a homemade descaling solution to clean the water reservoir. Also, clean the waterline and the filter. A metal clip would be your best weapon if your Keurig clogged with coffee grounds. Use it to clean the needle as well as the K-pod holder and rinse then under running water to ensure the coffee grounds are dislodged. Blow air into the water line to remove any debris clogging it. You can also use a metallic straw cleaning brush to remove the debris if the blockage is accessible. You can also use skewers, but be careful to avoid damaging the waterline. This entails using water to rinse everything out to ensure any clogged parts are unblocked. Use water coming from a pressurized hose such as the kitchen sprayer to force any caught up dirt or coffee ground from the filter, needle, or water line. Be careful not to damage the filer mesh with excessive water pressure. Check this too: How to Make a Latte with a Keurig

Assembling and Disassembling the Keurig

Always follow your K-café’s instruction manual when taking apart and putting together parts of your coffee maker.  The last thing you need is having to start ordering parts for your coffee maker. Or even worse, have to buy a new coffee maker because you broke an unreplaceable part.

Summary

To ensure your Keurig keeps brewing coffee as it should ensure you clean it regularly. To avoid getting to the point where it becomes clogged. And you have to go on a Keurig troubleshooting mission first thing in the morning. This can be a damper on what would have been an otherwise hassle-free day.
